FUNGI

BEYOND THE EYE

Our installation invites viewers to explore the non-human, present world of fungi roots, called mycelium, local to the city of Stratford. Mycelium networks are a crucial player in the natural environment, supporting mushroom growth, connecting trees and supporting bacteria development.

OUR CONCEPT

We will show altered clips of the fungi environment in the installation that highlight the mycelium networks through contrasting black and white visuals, acting as an x-ray view of the underground world.

The duration of the clips, as well as the frequency to which they are toggled, will be determined by the data collected by a prototype of the installation, where visitors can swap between an outside view of a mushroom, or viewing the roots beneath it.
